Dr. Focht grew up in rural Pennsylvania and graduated from Messiah College with a degree in Chemistry. He then completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania and came to New England to complete his residency in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Focht served as chief resident and then stayed as a faculty member teaching medical students and house officers in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Focht has worked clinically and as a leader in organizations focused on improving the safety and quality of care for patients and families. He supports wholistic care by working to enhance the physical, emotional and spiritual care of patients. Outside of the office he enjoys gardening, hiking, fishing, getting to the gym and spending time with his wife and four children.
